Polyglutamic acid (poly gamma glutamic acid (poly- gamma -glutamicacid) is a water-soluble polyamino acid produced by microbial fermentation in nature. Its structure is the polymer of glutamic acid unit through the alpha amino and gamma carboxyl groups to form peptide bonds.
The molecular weight distribution is between 100kDa and 10000kDa. Poly - gamma glutamic acid has excellent water solubility, super adsorption and biodegradability. The degradation product is a harmless glutamic acid. It is a good environment-friendly polymer material. It can be used as water retention agent, heavy metal ion adsorbent, flocculant, sustained-release agent and drug carrier, etc. in cosmetics, environmental protection and food.
