The powder is a white sand crystal or light yellow powder. The infusible powder is insoluble in ethanol, soluble in sodium hydroxide solution, reacts violently with water and burns.
The aqueous solution of the insurance powder is unstable in nature and has a strong reducing property, belonging to a strong reducing agent. It is easily exposed to oxygen in the air and oxidizes. At the same time, it easily absorbs moisture and degenerates, and it can seize oxygen in the air and give off a pungent sour taste.

III. Sodium Hydrosulfite Usage :
1. Sodium Hydrosulfite/SHS is widely used in the textile industry for reducing dyeing, reducing cleaning, printing and decolorizing, and for the bleaching of fabrics such as silk, wool, and nylon. Since it does not contain heavy metals, the fabric after bleaching is very bright and not easy to fade.
2. Sodium Hydrosulfite/SHS can also be used for bleaching foods, such as gelatin, sucrose, candied fruit, and bleaching of soaps, animal oils, bamboo utensils, and china clay.c
3. Sodium Hydrosulfite/SHS can also be applied to organic synthesis, such as dyes, pharmaceuticals as reducing agents or bleaches.
