Calcium Ascorbate is the salt of ascorbic acid which is a white to slightly yellow crystalline powder. It is soluble in water and the ph of a 10% solution is 6.8-7.4. It functions as an antioxidant and preservative. See ascorbic acid. |

The proposed monograph on vitamin and mineral products for OCT human use in the Federal Register, March 16, 1979, lists Calcium Ascorbate (as well as sodium Ascorbate and Ascorbyl Palmitate) as accepted sources of vitamin c.
